There is a DIFFERENCE between a pitching lesson and a bullpen session

I had a terrific opportunity to speak with a father earlier in the week.  This particular father is very active in his son's life.  He invests quality and quantity time!

During our conversation (after his son's video pitching lesson) he happened to mention that his son had a pitching lesson within the past week at a different facility.  He described the previous lesson as the pitching instructor sitting on a bucket of baseballs catching his son throw about 30 pitches.

I asked what type of instruction his son received during the lesson.  The father replied that the instructor gave his son no specific instruction on any mechanical aspects of his motion.

After seeing his son on my computer monitor the father quoted, "I am embarrassed".  He knew his son didn't receive any constructive instruction in the previous session and the father could see CLEARLY the strain that his son was placing on his arm.  More importantly the father AND HIS SON saw what mechanical changes needed to be made.  With the immediate feedback of the video, the pitcher was able to change his delivery (AND REPEAT IT).

The pitcher left the session saying, "That was fun!"  Isn't that is what youth sports is suppose to be about???
